Thematic Apperception Test is a type of projective measure which helps to evaluate a person’s thoughts, emotions, attitudes, interpersonal relationships etc with the help of specific cards. It is mainly used for the purpose of psychological assessment of person’s personality. It is popularly called as Projective Hypothesis Technique. It has slight difference from the routine Rorschach ink-blot tests where the images are used in TAT (Thematic Apperception Test) are not clearly recognized by the viewer. These images consist of a theme in them. Based on the recognition of the images by the viewer a psychological map is drawn.
This main purpose of this tutorial is to make the students to understand the working technique of Thematic Apperception Test, and also how these tests are useful in organizations to make decisions in testing the person’s personality during selection process.
As the science and psychology background students will be familiar with these tests. Others other than science background need to have some knowledge on Psycho analogy and Rorschach ink-blot testing before going through this tutorial.
